Eating out is expensive on the broads, but there are some reasonable discounts available and I’ll use this post to list some that have come to my attention while cruising.
- Sutton Staithe Hotel – Friday: Burger and a pint £10. Saturday: 2 meals for £25. (seen June 2026). Paid £4.40 a pint in June 2026. NOTE: we couldn’t connect to broadband while moored on the staithe.
- Norada Pub, Potter Heigham – Lite bites menu served from opening at mid day to 4pm. Small breakfast: £6.50 (with unlimited tea or coffee). Subs from £6.50. Paid £4.95 for a pint of Green King IPA in June 2026.
- Kings Head, Wroxham – Lite Lunch: £6.95. I had sausage and mash and peas. Small portion but OK. A pint is around £6.50. £27 for light lunch for two, so not that great, but, reasonable compared to other eat in places. They also do a sandwich, side (fries etc.), and a pint for about £11 which we didn’t try but sounds reasonable. (July 2026).
- Rising Sun, Coltishall – Large bowl of loaded fries with cheese and bacon: £4.50 (home cooked NOT frozen). Also sharing a pizza may be a good idea as they’re prepared on the premises from scratch, around £16 in June 2026 and very popular. Pint costs around £5 in June 2026. Waitress service and pay when leaving.
- Hermitage, Acle – Sunday Lunch: £13.25 June 2026. Excellent Sunday Lunch with drinks is going to cost around £40 for two, but, this is good value as everything is hot, fresh and well cooked, and you get loads. Pint of real ale is £4.40 in July 2026.
