If you can, moor under the bridge next to the Norada Pub. In July 2026, the bridge was at 5 foot 6 inches when we arrived, and we are 5 foot 3 inches with the screen down, so we stayed at the free mooring before the bridge. These moorings have two electric hook up points and there is water available at the end nearest the bridge. The Norada (https://thenorada.co.uk/) is the only pub in town and charges around £5.50 a pint (July 2026). They do a small breakfast for £6.50, and their light bites menu is reasonable and served till 4pm. The Norada Pub opens at mid day, shutting around 10 pm. There is a small kiosk opposite Lathams which serves burgers, bacon butties, coffee etc. A burger costs around £4.50 (July 2026) and coffee is around £2. This Kiosk opens around 7.30 am, so, is good for boaters who want to set off early but don’t want to cook their own breakfast.
If you do manage to get under the bridge, the moorings by the Norada Pub are for day boats up to 5pm, so, in theory, you can’t moor up for an overnight before 5pm, however we had no hassle when mooring there from 2pm and there is always plenty of space. Also, we noticed a few people using a gate in the fence, which we found out was not only a short cut to Lathams, but, also a short cut to the public toilets which has a disabled toilet open 24 hours if you have a disabled key. There are also plenty of free 24 hour moorings before the second bridge on the right, again, there is always plenty of space. Lathams store is good for provisions and booze, and they also stock a wide range of clothing and footwear. There is a bakery in store too.
Now, if you have an outboard motor, you may want to get fuel along the way. I have a couple of five litre petrol cans and I walked to Repps petrol station from Potter Heigham. There is a pathway beside the “Nippy Chippy” and the walk takes about 15 minutes. Repps petrol station has no premium unleaded, but, needs must I suppose. The petrol station is also a Co Op shop which is quite reasonable. I did notice an Indian takeaway by the side of this petrol station and took a menu back to the boat. The takeaway is The Indian Kitchen (https://www.reppsindiankitchen.co.uk/indiankitchen) and we ordered from the boat for delivery beside the Nippy Chippy. No problems with the delivery and the food was excellent, phone 016 9267 0002. The Nippy Chippy is open infrequently but the opening times are displayed in the window. We haven’t tried this place but it seems to be popular when open.
